Web sleuths uncover vast online spy network

Canadian researchers have uncovered an online malware network dubbed GhostNet emanating from China that has infiltrated computers in 103 countries. The malware used by the hackers -- which researchers were careful not to explicitly link to the Chinese government -- allowed the online spies to enable camera and audio recording functions in infected computers as well as read e-mail and download files. The network came to light as the result of an investigation of computers in the office of Tibetan exiles in Canada.
