162,000 jobs added in March, but unemployment rate holds steady

The U.S. Department of Labor said this morning that the U.S. workforce grew by 162,000 jobs in March -- its biggest gain in three years. However, the news was tempered by the fact that 48,000 of the new jobs were temporary positions for the U.S. Census Bureau and that the overall unemployment rate remained stagnant at 9.7%.
