Census aims to provide insight into U.S. mixed-breed dogs

Mars Veterinary has started gathering information on the roughly 38 million mixed-breed dogs in the U.S. as part of its 2010 National Mutt Census, which covers basic data including the animals' diet and whether they were adopted from shelters. The results could shed light on the kinds and frequency of illnesses among the mixed-breed population, which in turn could help establish health risk factors for certain mixed breeds.
