Contractors consider energy-saving measures on site

Contractors are increasingly considering their environmental impact on building sites -- not just in the building itself -- as owners ask for all-around energy-saving measures. "I think more and more owners are paying attention to the overall life-cycle impact of a project," said Caitlin Powell, sustainability engineer with Skanska USA of Beaverton, Ore. "We're building green buildings, but there is so much opportunity during the construction process to reduce our impacts."
