Companies like Continental Tire, which is investing $500 million to build a plant in Sumter County, S.C., are concerned about the capacity and ability of the state's transportation infrastructure to handle industrial growth. "For so many issues that come before us of great and momentous portent, there’s nothing bigger facing South Carolina than a $29 billion infrastructure need," said state Sen. Danny Verdin.
