Can marketers expect more ad-related lawsuits?

The Supreme Court has clarified use of the Lanham Act in litigation, allowing indirect competitors to sue each other over false or misleading ads, E.J. Schultz writes. The ruling could lead to more lawsuits and means marketers should be even more careful with claims made in advertising, experts say. "This really opens up the field to a wider spectrum of plaintiffs," attorney Linda Goldstein said.
