McDonald's steps up breakfast rivalry with free coffee

McDonald's will pour free small McCafe coffees during the breakfast shift for two weeks starting today, as the quickservice breakfast battle continues to heat up. The promotion comes days after Taco Bell launched its new breakfast menu nationwide, and competition has also been growing from Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts. McDonald's is hoping the promotion will help reverse four consecutive months of declining same-store sales at U.S. restaurants.
