Maryland Senate wants U.S. to allow state to import drugs from Canada

The Maryland Senate voted Tuesday to request a waiver from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to allow the state to purchase cheaper imported drugs from Canada to supply its Medicaid and pharmacy assistance programs. While lawmakers do not expect the request to be granted, the measure's sponsor said it prepares the state in case "the winds change" on the issue.
