Pakistani province to revamp public schools

To combat widespread illiteracy and a 50% national dropout rate, Pakistan's Punjab province is implementing a sweeping multimillion-dollar overhaul of public education. The plan's reforms include a 15% salary increase for teachers, a new school lunch program and a stipend rewarding girls for remaining in school.
