California launches major study of school financing

Scholars from Stanford University and 17 other research outfits and schools nationwide will conduct 20 studies into California's school-funding program to help state officials plan needed reforms. State Sen. Don Perata says the final report, due out by year's end, should become the "driving force" for legislative and budget actions in 2007.
