Verizon, FairPoint close land-line deal

Vermont's Public Service Board has given FairPoint Communications final approval to buy Verizon Communications' land-line and Internet services in northern New England, which enabled the companies to officially complete the deal. The $2.3 billion agreement covers assets in Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire.
