Arizona debates pollution exemption for gas storage

Legislators in the Arizona House of Representatives preliminarily passed a bill that would allow a Texas company to move forward with an underground storage site for natural gas despite worries about groundwater contamination. Houston-based MultiFuels says salt water and natural gas created during the excavation of a subterranean cavern in southern Arizona could be stored safely in underground formations without creating pollution.
