Babbitt speaks out on NextGen, crew rest

Randy Babbitt, nominated by President Barack Obama to head the Federal Aviation Administration, promises he'll consult with industry stakeholders regarding the implementation of NextGen, one of his top priorities in the new post. In an interview with AviationWeek, Babbitt also promised to resolve a long-running dispute with air traffic controllers and implement new requirements for crew rest that are based on sound science. As a former pilot, union chief and consultant, Babbitt said he has "spent a lot of my life facilitating" agreements between various parties.
