Chinese official calls on countries to preserve languages

China's vice education minister, Zhang Xinsheng, is calling for cooperation in preserving the world's languages, many of which he expects will no longer be in use by the end of the 21st century. China already has undertaken efforts to teach students multiple languages, introducing some primary-school students to English and older students to French, Russian, Japanese, German and Spanish.
