Economy beats back benefit programs

Generous benefits and perks, training programs and goal-oriented bonuses are falling out of favor as organizations tighten their belts, a Quantum Workplace study has found. But such cutbacks might be a mistake if they translate into weaker employee engagement, The Economist warns. "Declines in engagement levels should set alarm bells ringing in boardrooms because there is some evidence that firms with highly engaged workforces tend to outperform stragglers," this article says.
