Ariz. nuclear plant eyes license extension

Owners of the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Arizona plan to obtain a water supply and extend operating licenses through 2047. "There have been successes, but we are nowhere near satisfied," said Randy Edington, chief nuclear officer. New licenses and enhanced safety measures could guarantee that utilities in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas continue to receive power from Palo Verde.
