GM signs deal with Energy Dept. to study jatropha's biofuel potential

General Motors announced a five-year deal with the Department of Energy to study the biofuel potential of jatropha grown in farms near GM plants in India. "In the long term, if jatropha is commercially viable, it will reduce dependence on petroleum as well as reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and promote economic growth," said Mike Robinson, a GM executive.
