Long Beach offers rebates for drought-tolerant lawns

The water department in Long Beach, Calif., is offering a $2,500 rebate to residents and businesses that replace their traditional grass lawns with drought-tolerant landscapes. Preapproved water customers can apply for $2.50-per-square-foot rebates, with a maximum of 1,000 square feet. Funding is limited, and applications will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis beginning April 7.
