Obama plans to push oil exploration in mid-Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico

President Barack Obama will support exploration for offshore oil and gas in areas of the mid-Atlantic, the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska where drilling was prohibited, administration sources said. He also wants to block expanded drilling off the coast of California, Oregon and Washington state through 2017. Meanwhile, Obama will oppose opening Alaska's Bristol Bay to drilling, officials said.
