Security is sound at U.S. nuclear plants, NEI exec says

Allegations that the country's nuclear power plants lack the proper security measures are erroneous, writes Tony Pietrangelo, senior vice president and chief nuclear officer of the Nuclear Energy Institute. Facilities undergo rigorous federal supervision and are run with a "defense-in-depth" approach to safety, he argues in this opinion column. Since 2001, nuclear plant operators have invested more than $2 billion in improvements, aside from the security already supplied by armed forces and physical barriers.
