States OK job-creation bills focused on infrastructure

Washington state lawmakers have approved an $8.5 billion state transportation budget to fund thousands of construction jobs, including a large injection of federal-stimulus funds for building high-speed train service. Meanwhile, Minnesota lawmakers have passed a jobs creation bill based on historic renovation and small-business investment tax credits designed to boost investment. Kansas lawmakers have proposed an $8.2 billion transportation program.
