AICPA: IRS doesn't need confidential data from small businesses

If the Internal Revenue Service requests information from a small businsess' accounting software during an examination, the business should be allowed to redact some confidential information not pertinent to the investigation, says the American Institute of CPAs. The AICPA is urging the IRS to work with small businesses to protect sensitive data, but says software companies don't make it easy to segregate data.
