Prana Biotechnology gets funding for Alzheimer's disease study

The Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation has awarded Prana Biotechnology with a two-year funding worth $700,000 in support of a clinical trial that will assess the capacity of PBT2 to lessen buildup of beta-amyloid in Alzheimer's disease patients. The Phase II study, which will use PET imaging, will involve 40 patients with mild Alzheimer's disease and will start in Australia in the second half of the year.
