FDA issues updated list of devices subject to tracking rules

The FDA has released a document updating the list of devices that must be tracked under the final rule setting up a unique identifier system for medical technologies. The agency said it determines whether a device should be tracked based on the technology's potential for sudden, catastrophic failure; possibility for substantial adverse clinical outcomes; and the need for immediate professional intervention.
