The American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association and the Heart Rhythm Society have issued new guidelines on how to manage and treat atrial fibrillation. The groups recommend the use of radiofrequency ablation for patients with nonvalvular AF, while those with a history of stroke or increased stroke risk can be treated with oral anticoagulants including dabigatran, rivaroxaban, warfarin and apixaban.
