Proposal would stop docs from taking gifts in Ontario

Doctors would be prohibited from receiving gifts from drugmakers under an ethics policy proposed by the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons amid a growing movement to change the close ties between doctors and the pharmaceutical industry. The medical regulator's proposal also would prohibit doctors from promoting a specific product to colleagues and from being named as authors on research "ghost-written" by drugmakers.
