Shotcrete infused with charcoal and metals that can kill bacteria could help solve the large problem of corroding concrete sewer pipes, according to this article. Civil engineer Mark Hernandez and his team discovered that only a few species of bacteria are causing the corrosion. They have found that their shotcrete mixture helps the pipes better resist the bacterial corrosion.
