Column: Airlines say safety remains top priority

Domestic airlines have a superb safety record and continue to insist that safety is their top priority, writes Joe Sharkey in The New York Times. Meanwhile, concerns about the FAA's oversight of airline maintenance is growing, he notes. The House this week will hold a hearing on the need for more FAA maintenance inspectors and other related subjects.
