Los Angeles teachers who have weathered budget cuts, layoffs and other difficulties but nevertheless still return to their classrooms deserve not only thanks but better treatment, writes Los Angeles public-school graduate and University of Southern California sophomore Afika Khan. As an actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger once saved a classroom of kindergartners, but his proposed educational cuts as governor will hurt California students for years, Khan says.
