Many women don't fully understand breast cancer options

A study of 1,132 early-stage breast cancer patients from Los Angeles and Detroit shows only about half clearly understood the risks and benefits of mastectomy vs. breast-conserving lumpectomy plus radiation. Black and Hispanic women, older women, and women with less education were less likely to know about survival and recurrence with the two procedures.
