Travelers are finding they can often get better hotel and airline deals if they book at the last minute, or at least wait some, rather than booking in advance. "Your chances of getting a deal at the last minute are certainly better than they were a year ago," said Genevieve Shaw Brown, senior editor at Sabre Holdings' Travelocity.com. "Because of the downturn in leisure travel, there are fewer full planes and hotels." How long the unusual trend will last is anyone's guess, although some airline executives are forecasting a rebound in travel this summer.
