Schools chief: S.C. governor refusing funds may affect schools' viability

South Carolina legislators may not be able to compel Gov. Mark Sanford to accept federal stimulus funds for education, the state's attorney general said Tuesday. Legislators said that would force them to cut public K-12 education spending by $161.6 million, which could threaten the viability of South Carolina schools, said Education Chief Jim Rex.
