Stimulus-funded projects begin construction across U.S.

The first round of federal stimulus funding is accomplishing its goal of creating jobs, according to a review of 17 projects in 11 states by USA TODAY. State highway departments have approved "shovel-ready" projects across the country, and 16 of the projects reviewed will begin in spring or summer. More than $300 billion from the stimulus package went to states and cities to improve infrastructure.
