Study disputes Leapfrog hospital-safety ratings

Hospital-safety ratings conducted by the Leapfrog Group don't always correlate with patient outcomes, according to new study results. Researchers said a review of 155 hospitals that took part in the 2006 Leapfrog survey found those in the highest quartile for safety had about the same death rates as those in the lowest quartile. Hospitals also have complained the survey is too cumbersome and the questions are too vague.
