Excess weight may delay motor development in infants

A U.S. study of children up to 18-months-old found those who were overweight or had excess body fat were twice as likely to have problems sitting steadily for 30 seconds without support. The researchers said long-term studies would be needed to determine whether excessive weight or body fat led to delayed motor skills in older children.
