Hurricane center may issue warnings on storm surges

The National Hurricane Center is considering a plan to include storm-surge warnings among the watches and alerts that the agency issues during hurricane season. Government forecasters had record accuracy in their forecasts for storms' locations in last year's season but have failed to accurately predict storm intensity in the past 20 years, said NHC Director Bill Read.
