Oregon bill lifts ban on religious dress for teachers

Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski has signed a bill repealing the state's ban on teachers' religious dress, beginning in July 2011. The bill will allow teachers to wear head scarves and other religious dress. Supporters of the bill say it is consistent with religious freedom, but critics have said they worry about the effect on students.
