Amazon may enter race for mobile payments

Amazon is studying a near-field communications service that would allow customers use their mobile phones to make payments in brick-and-mortar stores, sources said. Google, Apple and three major cellphone companies are already working on NFC services. But Amazon's effort might also include an option for the consumer to seek the same item on Amazon that he was shopping for in the store.
