Autism Awareness events have some seeking acceptance instead

Autism Awareness Month kicks off today, but some groups say the focus on awareness overlooks the positive aspects of the disorder. At least two alternative efforts are being promoted on Facebook -- one heralding "Autism Acceptance Day" and another by a group calling itself "Autism Understanding and Acceptance." Events marking the awareness effort include the opening of the autism documentary, "Wretches and Jabberers" and the addition of blue lighting at about 700 locations across the world this weekend.
