BMW to put millions into mobile apps for city driving

BMW's venture capital arm will pour as much as $100 million into smartphone application firms in support of technology aimed at urban drivers instead of the power and performance cars the German car maker traditionally produces. BMW will invest in startups that will produce apps to help drivers find parking, more efficient routes and other essential data for large-city use.
