EPA loosens rules on green-fuel conversion systems

The Environmental Protection Agency has relaxed its rules for the manufacture and sale of alternative-fuel conversion systems for light and heavy-duty vehicles. The ruling allows an exemption to Clean Air Act language against tampering when converting a vehicle for clean fuels such as propane. "When the government streamlines the process, it's very helpful," said Dick Cupka, a sustainability program manager for Ford Motor.
