Ikea unpacks sustainability scores for design, purchasing


Swedish furniture giant Ikea is launching a sustainability scorecard to help keep tabs on environmental issues during its product-development and purchasing processes. The move was announced as part of the company's 2010 sustainability report, in which it also reported having increased its use of certified wood to almost one quarter of its total usage, and having launched eco-cotton purchasing initiatives that had helped more than 80,000 Indian and Pakistani farmers to switch to organic agricultural methods.
