La. task force considers sales-tax proposal for levee funding

A task force in Louisiana's Terrebonne Parish is considering a ballot initiative for a sales tax to raise about $120 million for the remaining work on an interim hurricane-protection system. "All of the money that the Levee District has identified is either spent or obligated to be spent," said Jack Osborne, chairman of the Terrebonne Levee Board's Finance Committee.
