Shale's manufacturing benefits must be communicated, exec says

The U.S. shale-gas boom is expected to deliver downstream benefits to the chemicals, plastics and manufacturing sectors, executives said at a petrochemical conference. However, the public and legislators will need to better understand manufacturing's needs, said Charles Drevna, head of American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers. "The industry is faced with a number of challenges, one of them being educating the public at large, including policymakers, opinion leaders and consumers, on how the manufacturing supply chain works," he said.
