Winn-Dixie chief talks competition and growth

Randall Onstead Jr., who led Houston grocery chain Randalls -- co-founded by his father and sold to a private-equity firm in 1997 -- recently became CEO of supermarket chains Winn-Dixie Stores and BI-LO. "The companies are different and the markets are different, but the common theme is that it's a matter of giving customers what they want, whether it's value, the right product or location," Onstead said. "It sounds simple, but it's the key to this business."
