Advertising isn't a social network's only option, co-founder says

Social media users "want an alternative to advertising" and would be willing to pay for a service that treats them better, CEO Dalton Caldwell said at South by Southwest Interactive. He says he hopes to use a freemium model to support his fledgling social network, and is wooing developers and publishers in the hope of building a critical mass of fee-paying users.
