Employees may choose part-time status to cope with ACA

Business owners and franchisees face difficult decisions when it comes to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, and Ralph Bower, Popeyes' U.S. president, said he expects some employees to volunteer for part-time hours to sidestep the mandate, even though they would still be required to have health care coverage under the law. "The company would be cautious about doing anything that would cause our full-time employees to cut back their hours, but we will not know until 2014 if anything in the law would make that happen," Bower said.
