How people use their smartphones and what that means for retailers

Sponsored by Facebook, IDC surveyed nearly 7,500 owners of Android smartphones and iPhones, finding that 84% of the average 132 minutes a day each person spent on the phone involved communicating by e-mail, social media and texts, with just 16% of that time devoted to phone calls. Branding Brand estimates that 39% of all traffic to Top 500 retail websites this year will come from smartphones.
