GLAAD to honor transgender actress

Transgender advocate and actress Laverne Cox is slated to receive the Stephen F. Kolzak Award at the 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards this month. Cox stars in the Netflix series "Orange Is the New Black." Each year, the award is given to an LGBT individual in the media who has been a significant voice for equality. "Laverne Cox has reshaped the way Americans see transgender people and raised the bar in diverse representations of the LGBT community in entertainment," said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis.
