Neurosurgery initiative uses collaboration to improve care

A pilot project at the University of California medical centers brings hospitalists and neurosurgeons together to improve patient outcomes. The initiative uses a toolkit designed to standardize pre-admission patient education, implement a post-operative debriefing to improve communication and safety, develop a post-op clinical care checklist, and leverage patient focus groups to find areas that need improvement.
